It is the professional society for senior strategic managers working in local government in Wales. SOLACE is a UK wide organisation with over 1700 members representing the most senior managers in the vast majority of local authorities. The Society provides a forum for members to network and share information and ideas; organises a range of high profile events; supports professional development and seeks to influence public policy and respond to issues that are of importance to its members and to local government in general.
In the context of the ongoing devolution process there is an increasingly distinctive policy agenda in Wales and the strategic direction of public services continue to diverge from that of the UK government. SOLACE has therefore supported the development of a strong, autonomous and active branch in Wales that can respond positively and constructively to this agenda. |
